Limited Spots Still Remain on our 10U Boys Spring Teams and 8U Development Program!

Lamorinda Youth Lacrosse still has a few spots remaining in its 10U Boys (ages 8.5 - 10 years old) teams and 8U Boys (age 8 and under) development program this coming spring.  Lamorinda Lacrosse welcomes players of all levels of lacrosse experience, and the 10U and 8U programs are ideal for beginners. The goal of both age group programs is to help players develop their fundamental stick skills and foundational experience to build confidence in an engaging and fun atmosphere.  Both programs require full equipment, and Lamorinda Lacrosse can provide advice on options for purchasing or potential loaner options.

Registration is open for both programs and only a few spots remain in the 10U Boys division.

Overview of 10U Development Teams:

The 10U Development teams are designed to help players develop their fundamental stick skills and foundational experience to build confidence in an engaging and fun atmosphere. Practice is two nights a week led by experienced coaches with fun, up-tempo drills, and unique 3v3 and larger group games to reinforce their learning.  The program will follow a defined curriculum for fundamental skills acquisition. The Development Team format introduces organized team play with home and away games against other local clubs on Saturdays and/or Sundays. The practices typically start in early February, and the season runs through early May. To participate on a 10U Development Team, simply register for the upcoming 10U evaluations and pay the $10 evaluation fee. If your schedule will permit your son to attend evaluations, then we'll look forward to seeing you on Dec 16th. If it won't, no worry - simply email and let us know you're unavailable to attend and that you'd like to be placed directly onto a 10U Development Team without attending evals. Once your son is placed on a 10U team in late-December, your full registration fee will be due.

Overview of 8U Development Program:

The 8U Development Program is designed to introduce young players to the sport of lacrosse in an engaging and fun atmosphere. The program is run clinic-style, with 90 minute sessions on Sunday afternoons for 10 weeks in the Spring (March - May).  The first hour of the session is practice and fun drills, and the last 30 minutes will be small sided (3v3) games.  8U participants do not travel to other towns or have league sanctioned games - it’s a more relaxed and fun environment to help them build foundational skills that will lead to long-term success and enjoyment of the sport. To participate in the 8U Development program, simply register for the 8U Boys program and pay the registration fee.

Lamorinda Lacrosse Development Program (“LDP”)

NOTE: Given the new 10U Development Team format adopted for 10U Boys (see above), we are recommending any new 10U players, regardless of experience level, register for 10U evaluations to be placed on a 10U Development team instead of LDP.

We are pleased to announce our new and improved Lamorinda Lacrosse Development Program (LDP) for newer players who would benefit from developing fundamental stick skills and foundational playing experience.  Before creation of LDP, inexperienced players were placed on competitive teams without having had the opportunity to develop the foundational skills for success, often leading to a suboptimal initial experience in the sport.  Our goal with LDP is to prepare newer players to advance to competitive inter-league teams with better success and enjoyment.

In each weekly session players will learn fundamental skills, participate in fun, up-tempo drills, and play unique 3v3 and larger group games to reinforce their learning.  The program will follow a defined curriculum for fundamental skills acquisition. Players will have the opportunity to earn rewards by completing skills challenges and achievements throughout the season.  And, for those who advance quickly during LDP, opportunities may arise to play a few games with one of the competitive teams.

The Boys and Girls LDP programs will run independently.  Boys enrolling in the LDP program must have full-equipment (stick, gloves, arm pads, helmet, shoulder pads, cleats, and mouth guard).  Girls enrolling in the LDP program will need stick, goggles, cleats and mouth guard.

Who:  LDP is ideal for newer players ages 9 and up ( girls LDP players 11 and up) that typically have less than a year of playing experience.   Newer players age 8 and under should register directly for our 8U program.

When: LDP will meet weekly for 10 weeks in the Spring (March-May) on Sunday afternoons for 90-minute sessions.  Exact dates and times coming later this fall.

Registration:  $395 for the 10-week program.  To register for LDP, please visit our Registration Page.
