Lamorinda Boys Lacrosse
Our boys' lacrosse program provides a dynamic and engaging environment for players ages 6-14 to develop their skills, teamwork, and love for the game. Whether they are picking up a stick for the first time or looking to advance their competitive play, our experienced coaches focus on fundamentals, strategy, and sportsmanship. Through age-appropriate instruction, drills, and game play, we emphasize skill development, confidence, and a strong team culture. With opportunities for both recreational and competitive play, our program helps players grow at every level while fostering a passion for lacrosse.
No experience is required. We welcome new or repeat players in the following programs:
8U Boys: ages 8 and under, 1st and 2nd graders
10U Boys: ages 10 and under, 3rd and 4th graders
12U Boys: ages 12 and under, 5th and 6th graders
14U Boys: ages 14 and under, 7th and 8th graders

Boys Lacrosse FAQs
When is your main season?
Spring, from February through May.
Where do you practice and play games?
Our home fields are Wilder Sports Fields in Orinda. Practice days and times vary by age group.
What is the practice schedule?
8U boys practice for one hour once per week. 10U Boys practice for one hour, twice a week. 12U and 14U boys practice for 1.5 hours, twice a week.
Is lacrosse safe to play?
Safety is our top priority. We follow USA Lacrosse safety guidelines, provide certified coaching, and ensure all players wear the required protective equipment. Boys’ lacrosse includes controlled contact, similar to hockey though less intense. Coaches are trained in concussion protocols and we always emphasize safety and sportsmanship. What is the game schedule?
Teams typically play roughly ten games per season, including home and away games against other local programs. We also participate in mid-season and/or end-of-season tournaments. Nearly all games are scheduled on weekends, mostly Saturdays, but some Sundays as well. 8U and 10U games are mostly played within about a 25-minute drive. 12U and 14U games are mostly local, but can be up to an hour or so away.

Kevin Higgins
BOYS 12U COACH & BOYS COMMISSIONER
Kevin played NCAA Division I lacrosse at Notre Dame and grew up playing competitive lacrosse in Connecticut before making his way out west. He coaches Lamorinda Lacrosse and also serves on the Board of Directors as Boys Commissioner.

Brian Rothenberg
BOYS 10U & 8U COACH
Brian played men’s lacrosse at USC where he was 2x Team Captain and defensive MVP, and also played for Team USA West in the International Games. Brian grew up in Lafayette and is an alum of Lamorinda Lacrosse, where he now coaches his four children. He also coaches for ADVNC Lacrosse.

Matt Ward
BOYS 12U COACH
Matt played college lacrosse at Chico State after growing up playing for Lamorinda Lacrosse and in high school at Acalanes. He now coaches his sons’ lacrosse teams and serves on the Board of Directors.

Chris Jantz-Sell
Chris played NCAA Division III lacrosse at Hamilton after growing up playing lacrosse in Connecticut. He coaches the 8U boys team and has two young children who play for Lamorinda Lacrosse.
